I live in Dallas, last year my Basjoo flowered in late October. I saw some minibanans before the frost came in December but that was it.
Thanks to the mild winter I have 2 Icecreams that could remain outside with heavy covering that survived the winter and now one of them is seending up a flag leaf!
Woohoo!
:woohoonaner:
That means I have a chance to actually get some bananas!
I can even see the flower starting to come up right behind it!
It is an Icecream (fake or real I guess I will know once I see the fruit!)
I bought several pups from 3 different sources, one being Going Bananas and a very reputable local nursery. But that was a couple of years back and since then I have taken pups fro all of them so which one now flowers is from Going Banans or one of my other two sources I really don't know and I guess I wont until I see the fruit! I also have a Dwarf Orinoco that survived the winter and two additional Icecreams where I kept the P-Stem in the garage and all of these are actually bigger than the Icecream that is sending up a flower right now! Most of them are around my pool so I am guessing that maybe the humidity helps?
I just had to share!
