Hello everyone,
I have been checking out this forum for a few weeks now, but joined today from San Diego.
I was given a pretty nice and large mystery banana plant in March that has sparked my interest in growing some edible bananas, especially after it has already grown three new leaves. Being from Northern Europe I never thought of being able to grow these plants myself. I did some research and really wanted an ice cream banana plant which I found at a local nursery. Now being back to this forum I have to read about real/unreal ice cream/ Blue Java banana plants. So confused now (and even considered to take that plant back)...., well, my next banana plant purchase will be from one knowledgeable member on this forum here I hope.

Welcome! Don't let the Ice Cream confusion make you crazy. You've come to the right place for therapy. :)

Hi I am new here also. Originally from Florida been in Ohio for 20+ years. Gained interest in bananas a couple of years because I missed the tropical foliage in winters. I have some banana plants that I lugged in the past few years- got tired of the work out last year so left in pots outside. I think they actually survived not sure yet. Anyways crossing my fingers.

Welcome to bananas.org. Yeah, bananas are one of the few plants my husband thinks is cool. Everyone always asks about them because they are so unusual in this area

Welcome to the forum
