Hi from Hungary
Hi to All,
I'm Janos, a new member from Hungary. Realtively new to the banana thing, I began last year with a small Basjoo bought. It grew abt 3m tall before the first freezing hit the leaves in November. Due to leaks in winter protection the whole part over the gound had to be cut when unwrapping, but it seems that the rhizome survived well and now I have 5 little bananas growing around the remains of the old one. Well, happy to be here cause the next project will be some other hardy types ... bought or germinated ... The final plan is to have half of my small garden full with different kind of bananas. Janos |

Welcome Janos,
I had the pleasure a number of years ago of visiting your beautiful country for two months. Do you live in Budapest? Best of luck with your basjoo. James |

I've put a pin on the map here, so you can have a look. The Basjoo is doing well, thanks Although I've made the winter protection with errors, the underground part survived and it is growing (20 cm per week now). I've posted pics in the European regional forum.Janos |
