I recently planted 4 passiflora vines. They are growing well and are very pretty plants. I am new to this, and have been reading a lot about pollination. It's horrendously confusing. From what I understand, purple passion fruit is self-fertile, whereas yellow requires another plant. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The question that I have right now is this: If two yellow passion fruit vines are grown from two different seeds from the same parent plant, will they pollinate each other?

The reason I ask is because I have learned that in order for pollination to occur, the plants must be genetically different. I sent a message to the seller that I bought my plants from and asked him if they were genetically different, and he said that they were grown from two different seeds of one parent plant. Now I'm concerned that my plants won't cross pollinate.

All of this has my head spinning.

Thanks for your help!

Thank you so much!

I assume that I was correct about purple being self fertile and yellow needing another plant?

Good deal.

While I have you here, what kind of fertilizer do you use on your plants? Analysis?
