It's hard to know for sure from that picture. It looks like an edible from the AAB or ABB group.

The reason I ask is when I moved into my house 5 years ago the bananna plants were 8-10 foot tall and produced fruit. Ever since then I am lucky to get 3-4 feet. I have researched fertilizers and watering and just can't figure it out. Any help would be great.

Don't know what it is, but what are u feeding them?
Here is 2 things u can look into that might help. I'm sure other people will have suggestions for maximum growth. Mycostim, Mycorrhiza, Organic Labs Products, Organic Fungus for plants Using Milorganite on Bananas-For the Ultimate Growth! - Banana Forum - GardenWeb
