help with id
up loded some pics of a naner i found just off Interstate 4 just east of tampa florida..wondering if edible type???cant seem to upload to my thread....clump is located nere a small dump site..had to have been there for a couple of years atleast...did not see any with fruit..1 about 10 feet the rest about 8 feet from corm to first leaf..good size clump...wondering about type???any help would be great...thanks

They're probably Orinoco, which is edible. Can you get a picture of the mother plant with flower bud and fruit?

yea just took pups no flowers on any...today going down i 75 i found another clump..looked the same as other...few flowers and fruit...will upload later...tall 12 feet + thinking orinoco..banana..or is it plantain????or is there both..orinoco banana and plantain///thanks for reply ...keep on diggin

Orinoco is one of the most commonly grown banana varieties in Florida so I agree with Andreas that it's likely that. Also, it is used as a cooking banana (baked, boiled, fried, etc before ripening) but it can also be used as a desert banana if allowed to ripen. Excited to see those pics
