Approximately a year ago I planted some seeds from a yellow (hairless) kiwi fruit. I didn't grow that well so I planted it outside just for fun and forgot about it. It was at that time about 20 cm (8"). After a rough winter with -17C without protection and little snow it seemed dead but now, to my sursprise, it has begun to grow! Kiwis aren't supposed to withstand such temperatures especially not yellow ones of that size..or are they?

I'm happy that it seems to be just fine but I realised that I need to have a male to pollinate this one or vice versa to get fruit. Does anyone know something about growing yellow kiwis and how low temperatures they can take?

If the fruit isn't hairy then it isn't A. deliciosa (or A. chinensis) so could be one of the many cold-hardy Actinidia specise. A. kolomikta takes something like -40F and the arguta types also take well into the minuses (-15F to -20F ?)
