I have about 12 banana plants that I started last spring - some quite big now in 15 gallon pots others quite a bit smaller in 1 gallon tree pots. All were overwintered in the basement under a 1000w Metal Halide lamp. Most look pretty sad now - was wondering if I could cut them back - would fresh new growth come up from the roots? The ones in the 15 gallon pots are now pretty tall but only 2-3 live leaves on them with a tall gangly stem.
They are red tiger, Absynnian, sikkemenisis, lasio carpa.
So if I cut these guys off at ground level will that kill them or might they bounce back with some nice new fresh growth in time for putting outdoors in May?? Thanks - Glenn
