Hi all,
Not sure but I think I need a little help. I live in zone 7 and recently planted some small Basjoos I received, however during shipping a number of the small basjoos appeared to be squashed. I managed to plant them however they are wilting very bad with some browning. I fertilized with a 24-8-16 mixture and hoping for the best. My question is, how durable is this plant? Is it likely the damaged plants will not flourish?

Also, here in the North East we were hit with a tremendous rainfall, will this effect the Basjoo negatively?

Best Regards!

You musnt't fertilise it.
Picture will help.
Maybe you will need to do a operation...

I agree, I would wait at least a couple of weeks before fertilizing and let the plant get established good. They should recover from the damage they received during transportation.

Well since you already fertilized it, the rainfall is probably a good thing to wash the fertilizer away. Most likely, if the stems were crushed, the top part of the banana is going to die off. If there is enough energy stored in the bottom root area of the plant, then it will grow back. If they are very small plants, you probably should have contacted whomever sent them to you right away and told them of the shipping damage. Very small plants 4-8" tall most likely won't recover.
