I have soaked my citrus seeds on March 15 and sown them on March 16, covered them with a thin
layer of peat moss and kept them moist at a steady temperature of 25 to 28^C (77 to 82^F). That
is now 30 days from soaking date and there is still no indication of sprouting.
Am I too impatient, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Olaf
Hi Olaf,
i soaked seeds a few days in a glass at the top of a boiler. (2-3 days)
Remove the outside coat from the seed. (see guide link below)
I put the seeds in a bag with "lightly moist" peat.
The bag was heated (same temp as yours)
germination within 30 days.
Maybe you could check if rot occured.
What kind of citrus are you trying to have from seeds?
here a guide i found (http://www.ehow.com/how_5589303_germinate-citrus-trees.html)
and this one (http://www2.bioversityinternational.org/publications/Web_version/52/ch49.htm#CHAPTER%2064.%20RUTACEAE)

Hi Jc,
thank you for these instructions. I subsequently tried to dig the seeds of March 16 out again
and found two of the four healthy and after I removed the husk they appeared to be close
to sprouting. I moved those into a plastic bag as you suggested. One of the others
disintegrated, when I was trying to remove the husk and the last one has for reasons I cannot
fathom fractured into small hard pieces.
I have just now started soaking 6 more, which I will add to the same little plastic bag, after
I have removed the husks.
The citrus I am trying to germinate are the same, for which I offered the seeds here:

If you (or anybody else for that matter) would like some, you will have to PM me your snail
mail address.
Best,
Olaf
PS: On the bright side, a little white shoot is showing up today, where I had planted a seed for a
Miniature Chusan Palm on January 13. - Dare I hope after all this time, that this is what it appears
to be? If it is it would be the first of 12 seeds of three different species of palm trees, I planted
that day. :)
i have 3 Poncirus trifoliata seedling (1 year old), outside conditions.
They withstood a little more -10°c easily, without protection.
They are growing so slooooowly , about 10 cm high for now.
here are two of them:

i hope your Quat will be a quicker growing tree!

The first leave of a palm is growing quickly, I sadly learned this year that one or two years "cold hardy palm" seedling should be indoor... or well protected!
I have a Chusan Palm in pot (15 - 19 in. high) Miniature Chusan Palm is a beautifull palm too.

Thanks JC, my seeds from Olaf are still setting there. Several rotted and I thought it might be me but the email from Olaf might get me back on track.
Olaf, thanks for the info. I will attempt to salvage what is there and hopefully some will make a go for it.
