Saw lots of new names on here today. Turns out they were all spam. I hope they paid the $5.00 for each new name they registered.

Not just spammers but a lot of new members and some older members who almost never post show up at the same time. Strange! The lack of capitalization in their names also makes me wonder.

Yes terribly annoying to see new posts in so many threads only to be spam lol

No more $5 fee so the spammers will be coming. I will modify the site again soon and get it up to date to make it harder for them to join and make posts.

I believe several people had begun the registration process previously but stopped when they saw there was a $5 fee. Then, when Jarred saw how some folks had complained about it on another forum he removed the fee and sent some sort of notice out to folks (several introductions said "thanks for the reminder") so they showed up yesterday. I only saw one spammer who had posted 9 messages in different threads and he's gone now. Good to see some new people coming here since things have been pretty slow. Let's make them welcome.

So there is no longer a subscription fee?

I don't think its a bad thing to charge for posting abilities.. It keeps out the weeds.

This is the only forum I have ever paid money to join. I had already gotten my $5 worth before I even subscribed (just from reading old threads), and I've derived a lot of additional value since then, so I've had no problem with the fee. It's been one of the best $5 purchases I've ever made!

Regardless of whether there is or isn't a fee, I want to say thanks to Jarred (and to a lot of the regular members) for creating and maintaining a site that is well worth paying for. :bananas_b

I agree that the spammers suck. Hopefully they won't be too problematic.
