Thats a face book link to the Council video.
Boy they had the best trees there and all were moderately priced.. To bad it was only one day because I'd gladly go again tomorrow.
This is late in the day at the exit, a great show at the South Florida Fair Grounds in Palm Beach County . Next year I'll be back!

OK let me tell you how I messed up! I got there to late 9:25 AM. I saw some huge Musa plants in the storage area. Where people had placed them for pick up later in the day! I was SICK! but I snagged one Dwarf Red 36 inch PS $15.00 so I did well for myself. This picture is not a good shot of all the bananas there but I was in a tizzy about being late...

Bananimal called me telling me that there were some FHIA-2 there. Unfortunately, I was at the market selling fruit at the time. One of these days, I'll get a FHIA-2

Getting there early is a good plan for that one also. Don't know how many years they have been holding it, but it has been a lot, and always gets a great turn out. Last year got there at 9:30 and only found 1 of what was on my list (all out of the others). But got the second to last Key Lime they had. It was a really nice one too, would loved to see what the ones sold before mine looked like.
Probably a lot of the same vendors.

Trebor ---------- I was there a bit before 9:30. We must have passed by each other a couple of times. When I got to the bananas there was one FHIA 2 left so I called Nick. While on the phone a little old lady reached out in front of me and put her grubby little hands on my banana - FHIA 2 that is! When she finally noticed there was some one standing right in front of the plant she said is this one yours? I replied - I certainly hope so.
She took off. When Nick said he'd pass for now I left it.
Funny thing about these plant sales - you have to be there before it opens and get in line. Then run thru the area fast with a cart and snatch everything you want right away. And watch out for those little old ladies with the sharp nails. lol :ha:
What's with these little old ladies and bananas? At the grocery store they give you murderous looks when you get near the plantains and at plant sales they try to steal your naner.

bananimal..............Yes I bet we did walk right by during the AM …
Funny how that happens when your out at any type of a specialty sale there is a dedicated group of hard core shoppers who charge forward to get the prize! I usually feel like if I'm suppose to get it I will.. Next time I go to another show, I think Ill try to get there as the doors open! Ill keep a keen eye out for the Ladies with stock carts in their hands

FYI - Going Bananas (in Homestead, FL) Welcome to Going Bananas of Homestead, Florida! (http://www.going-bananas.com/) has FHIA-2 listed in their catalog. I have purchased bananas from them (both online and at tropical plant shows here in the lower Keys) and have been very satisfied with the quality!

I got there at 10am, might as well not have gone. Most of the banana trees and papaya trees I was looking for had been sold earlier. I was disappointed that so many plants where from Excalibur nursery.:waving:
