I don't know what kind of banana this is but it put out the flag leaf late in the summer so I dug it up and it has been in storage since September of last year. Replanting banana 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDdHjJLOfMU)

Wow, very nice! It looks kind of like Orinoco.

I had a double take when I looked at your current temp. That's exactly the temp here in the Boston area today. Mother nature tricked me again. After a week of warm temps it was difficult to resist getting out in the yard and moving stuff outside. We have some lows predicted below freezing next week so I might just dig up the banana or try to build a temporary structure around it to keep it warm. I don't know what it is because I got it from WillisOrchard.

A very interesting post for us northern growers - On your youtube I started to recount a similar situation I had 2 years ago -Here's what wouldn't fit there: My experience was similar but a little different since my banana was a Bordelon - so it made only small inedible bananas but it was fun to watch the whole process of flowering, banana formation and growth and then p-stem death followed by very strong pup formation.
A very rare gardening experience here in tropical Pittsburgh PA!!
