That's what my Mysore is doing. The main stem has barely budged for weeks, but it's pushing up a pup. Maybe something's wrong with the main stem? Rot?

I doubt it. Give it 6 weeks of spring.

A lot of times especially when in storage, the main stem gives up and it starts new plants from the pups. Also if the plant gets to be several years old without fruiting, the main stem dies off and sends up several new pups. I have a Cuban Red that did that over winter. I have two new plants to replace the old one.
I bring my plants in and keep them green down in my basement. They don't grow much in the winter, but most of them stay healthy and alive. I loose some leaves, but when I bring them up, it doesn't take them long to put out new growth. We hit the 80s for temps last week, and most of them have already pushed out a new leaf.

This is only 2nd year for main plants.( apple banana ? ). I covered roots and wrapped them for the winter.. not that it was a cold winter. I wish I knew the names of my older plants. I was given 4 other plants and given the same treatment,, 3-4 years old now ( never give fruit ) and they sprouted out the tops as normal with no pups as of yet. At least the apple banana have 2 pups each but no sign of top sprouts out the main plant as of yet

For me that happens with unhappy plants -- especially potted ones during winter. The main stem dies and one or more pups comes up. The pups do fine if conditions improve.

Sounds like that's my situation. Hopefully my main stem doesn't die, it has a good 5 feet of pstem on it.

Hopefully so. Once the weather gets more amenable for bananas, maybe it will. The pups produced can be very vigorous, so they should do fine once the weather gets better and you get it out of the pot and in the ground.
