Contact Pitangadiego and Sunfish here, both from San Diego. You'll get large plants at good prices. It's worth the drive.

I don't think Richard has banana plants for sale now, btw.

Also, there's a "wanted section" (http://www.bananas.org/f224/) here on bananas.org where you can post what you're looking for and other members can respond. If you can figure out what type of plants you want, that may be the best way to get the best actual plants, since members often send enormous corms that can establish new mats in short order.

Check your local Craigslist. You should be able to get large pups for $10 or less

OP,

Pitangadiego, who operates Encanto Farms/WeBeBananas listed above, provides a list of his banana selection here (http://encantofarms.com/2011available.html) (along with his contact email).

I wouldn't trust the mail or anyone else not freezing a box enroute , but if you are make sure you get delivery confirmation (USPS) that speeds up the mail. :^)

OASIS TROPICAL PLANTS and found a manzano pup on Amazon

Eeeek. Wishing u luck on your oasis order, I was going to order from them last year when I found out they had most of the cultivars I wanted... until I read the reviews here. They have updated their webpage though so maybe theyve shaped up. Good luck and let us know how/if the package arrives.

I ordered from Oasis a day before the warning thread was bumped... I wish that thread was stickied with the others... I got my plant in about 15 days, in fair condition... Only time will tell if it is what it is supposed to be...

15 days, well that's better than most! There's hope Matt! Plus I really want a Raja Puri pup one day ;)

:waving:Hi, I am also from central Jersey. I have been growing banana plants for about five years. I really like dealing with Wellspring Gardens on ebay. Prices are really good and plants are healthy. I've had good success with BLK Thai & Ensete. Now I am trying Dwarf Cavendish. I am also from zone7 Thai & Ensete have a very fast growth rate for our short summer. Ted's is also good but I find more at Wellspring. I will be keeping DC as a houseplant except for summer on the deck.
Good Luck with your plants.

I think Wellspring has nice prices if you really don't care what you get, but honestly they mix up their bananas too often. I've heard plenty that most TC offering nurseries don't have the real Basjoo, which is a pain for anyone not in zone 9 or better, and of course like anyone else their Ice Cream isn't the real Ice-Cream, their Manzano might not even be so either, as well as many others.

Illia, their basjoos aren't the real basjoos? hmm...that's too bad. Most people might wonder why I would want to grow basjoo in zone 10! LOL The reason is I want to see how fast it grows even when it's "cold" here like in high 40s/low 50s.

Everything I've bought so far as been what I ordered. I bought Basjoo from Ted's greenhouse afew years ago, no problem. I bought from Wellspring,no problem. Maybe I have been lucky. :2722:
