Hi, Just recieved ensete glaucum and balbasiana seeds from Georgia Vines
ebay. I noticed the belly button on ensete seemed to be slightly open. I've
grown these before. Dealer said this is how they all are. I put seed in hot water and all ensete floated. Ones I grew in the past would sink & I don't
recall the belly button being open. The fact that these new seeds are floaters, mean they are bad.
Thanks Raggedy:2738:

They could just be very dry. Leave them for 24 hours, they may sink.
As for the belly button, don't worry about it. It may appear to be open, but actually isn't.

I have to say though, I am very suspicious of sellers of banana seeds on ebay. They don't have a clue about what they are selling or how to keep seeds for a period of time so they remain viable. Often they are sitting about for years because they only sell their batches in 5s at hugely inflated prices.
