Hello Banana Friends!

I checked other musas, overwintering under the eaves in 60 liter plastic pots
if they still are alive. They are wrapped by the packing mats of vegetable
materials after being cut off the leaves and the petioles, and in some cases the topof the pseudostem.
Luckily they are all ok with little damages, and I do hpe they will go well
throughout this winter.

Hi Friends,

Winter is about to end, and the lowest temperture in the morning has been
+-50F. For yourinformation, the temperature of the winter months were
as follows:

Nov. H68F/L58, Dec. 63/29, Jan. 63/30, Feb. 70/27, Mar. 72/32

During the winter months, no water has been supplied to the containers.
So in order to see if the bananas are still alive, I peeled of the wrapping
protections. Everthing was alright and they kept even green on the pseudo-
stem. Williams hybrid in the ground with wrapping protection of vegetable
materials could not survive, while Rajapuri could overwinter in the ground
under the same protection.

From the result of this experiment, I will try this way again in the coming
winter to the banana species, of which hardiness would be doubtful.
This way is easy and less risky.

Stan
