Mother Jones?!? Ok, I'll read it, but with the knowledge that they are a FAAAAAAAR left-wing rag that is quite blatent in its bias of pretty much everything. They are also known to lie, obfuscate, and fabricate 'facts' if it suits their agenda.

True, however Mitchel has never been affected by any of it!

The article is good though. I recall some of the science headlines Tyrone Hayes was making in the 90's. What a kick.

Hey, here's some information on his nemesis: Atrazine - toxicity, ecological toxicity and regulatory information (http://www.pesticideinfo.org/Detail_Chemical.jsp?Rec_Id=PC35042)

I don't know this particular story or line of research that well, but I can tell you that he must do good science because his research is peer-reviewed and published in the best journals. As a fellow professor, I find his approach kind of liberating, though I don't currently plan to send any lewd email to major corporations! Scientists strive for the truth -- we may not find it, but we try. We don't strive to make the biggest profit and hide the evidence of our failures so we can keep making money, like the corporations that fight people like Hayes.

I'm sort of surprised this is even a big deal. It is well known that all the elevated levels female hormones in bodies of water that come from women taking the pill and peeing in toilets, which is not removed by sewage treatment, ends up feminizing fish and amphibians and causing these exact kinds of effects seen in atrazine.
