Hi guys,

I have several few months old plants indoors that are developing black spots. They are becoming wider and become dry to the extend that the leaf above the spot (still green and looking healthy) eventually gets starved.
This is happening in the middle or even lower part of the stem.I am trying to cut these black spots out but it also sometimes significantly damages the stem.
What's happening to them??? Fungus?
I have low humidity, not more than 30%.
Thanks for your help!!!

Maybe you should post some pics. My bananas are fine with the low humidity here.

Yes, picture(s) of the black spots and also of the whole plant(s) including the pot(s) would be helpful. With any luck it is just normal leaf drop.

Hi guys!

I've cought several naners in progress of developing the black rot. Here are the images. I suspect occasional underwatering as a main cause for weakened immune resistance to fungi or something similar.
I had several successful 'surgeries' removing smaller black spots. In these cases it's too late.
Anybody have the same issues or suggested solutions?

Thanks!!!

Are you sure the corm is dead on that? Looks like the dying tissue is killing healthy tissue around it. Another thing that may be happening is that it is dead all around the plant. The dead tissues seem to shrink. When this happens this can girdle the plant (keep flow of "sap" from roots to top of plant). Make sure there is no green under this. If there is take off the black tissue. Also, with low humidity, you should spray with water. If you dont, plants will get black spots from what I have seen here in Michigan (low humidity during winter).
