Pisang Klotek finally pops flower in Jan 2012.

The amazing thing is the weather is behaving much more like a la nina year than it has already. Several days in a row in high 70’s low 80’s for the last 2 weeks.

This isn’t the first flower for the PK. Have had to toss 2 others cause of the frost bites of the last 2 years.

So ----- if the weather holds there should be enough green leaves to fill out a bunch of fruit.

Wish me luck.

congrats..

I recently got a mysure pup. They look very similar to my Palayamkodan

I think Pisang Klotek, Pisang Ceylon, Mysure, and Palayamkodan all are same plant known in different names and produce same fruit.

They are all certainly in the same sub-group, the Mysore subgroup.

Palayamkodan:

In terms of flavor, I would guess they are all pretty much indistinguishable -- at least that is true of the Mysore and Pisang Klotek that I've tried. Pisang Ceylon is free of BSV (banana streak virus), whereas most Mysore clones have it integrated into the genome. Don't know about BSV and the others.

Good. How did the mama make out with the cold snap?
