Is enano gigante a good banana to plant in your backyard?
How tall can it get and does it fruit faster than others?

........Dwarf Cavendish in the English language. This is a beautiful plant with a very large bunch of cavendish type bananas.I would say a height of about 5 feet or less would produce fruit.Very common here in Fl.,not sure about Cali.
Here is a pic.............

Greenie,
Is this a different dwarf Cav than the regular one? Mine always fruits at about 5 ft of pseudostem with the fruit hanging at about chest and waist height. Your pics look like they are a lot taller?

'Enano Gigante' is a Cavendish variety, but it is not the common 'Dwarf Cavendish'. There are many different varieties of Cavendish, some of them are dwarf varieties but 'Dwarf Cavendish' is a specific clone which is very nicely represented in Terry's photo.

Tlturbo:
Thanks for the picture. Another eyeopener for me.
I LOVE your picture. That's exactly what I am looking for.
Is there anyway that when I order the DC that it will be dwarf?
Or I am taking a chance as to the height of the species.

Bencelest,
It just so happens that I have a real nice pup on that same clump that I have been TOLD is going to be too close to the sidewalk and I need to remove it.
That is a great banana. That clump fruited in Aug, we ate them in early Dec and now the next stalk is setting fruit. Grows fast, pups great and has lots of great fruit. Pretty plant too.
$20 includes shipping if you want it but I'd be afraid of shipping this time of year yet.

I'll put it in my calendar.
How do you want me to pay you? Check or I have a Paypal account if that will help.
Thanks!
