Next time I have a leftover slice I'm going to plant it and see what grows, seeing how it's a vegetable. :ha:

In all seriousness, this is insane that the frozen food industry has won the right to "feed" our children. Just another sign of the times...palm head

I think I hear the fat lady singing

They didn't win the right. People willingly gave it to them because they wanted something easy.

What? People have been fighting for more nutritious food in schools, not asking for easy food. The frozen food corps have lobbied the politicians and won. This is not what "the people" wanted. The kids may have wanted more junk food but not their parents.

There is a small percentage of vocal parents that fight for improved food but most psrents don't care very much, if at all. My wife is on a school board (Catholic but obtains hot lunches from the school district) and the lunch program has never been brought up. Our son usually takes a bag lunch (PBJ, fruit) but nearly always has pizza on Tuesday (fresh, cooked in mobile Straw Hat kitchen). I feel better knowing it is a vegetable.

If a large percentage of parents cared very much about healthy foods do you really think we would have so many fast food restaurants?

I see it carry over to scouts as well as most kids have had no exposure to cooking beforehand which is a lot different than how I was raised.
