I know this doesn't really have to do with banana plants but I wanted people to seee this ASAP.I am having issues uploading pics onto here, I have always gone to photo gallery, my albums then selected add more photos and it's always worked but I haven't been on in a while or added any pics since sept. has something changed? please let me know how to fix this .
I've only had problems when uploading a few photos where some are over 1Mb in size. I reduced the resolution (and thereby, the size), and then was able to upload with no probs. Give that a try.
Sometimes, I was successful with large photos when I did only one at a time, too.

I can't upload any either. I thought it was just from maintenance or something so I waited. About a week later I tried again with different pictures and the ones I was trying to upload a week before showed up. Now I just can't upload any.

I've been having the exact same problem Matt, and can't load any shots into my album whatsoever! There definitely is a problem for some and it started two weeks ago when I first contacted Jarred about it. He is looking into the situation and trying to correct it. Hopefully it will be soon.

I tried with only one pic, but no dice. My poor router was blinking away, but nada.
Just tried it - no problem at all.

We're not talking about posting shots Yug...we're talking about loading shots into our albums.
Might be a problem just for the Canadian users because Jarred indicated that no one else was having an issue with it. Matt is also in Ontario like I am.

:2738: Uhhh, I posted it into my album (it is viewable there in case anyone wishes to check), then I included it here to show the new photo after I posted there...
(in case some think I was a little slow here... I read all the posts and knew the part about not being able to get them into albums, but thanks all the same :08: )

Jarred just pm'ed me tonight and apparently there have been other complaints, so Matt and I aren't the only ones with this problem now.
I sure hope it gets fixed soon.

I am having the problem as well. I am not in Canada though, I am in California.

Try Photobucket or one of the other photo/video hosting sites. Way easier and no horrible watermarks.

Nope Matt it's not just the Canadian users. Jarred says he's got other complaints about it now too.
Mine does the exact same thing...says it's uploaded successfully but nothing appears. Still waiting for it to get fixed.

Oh and I've been using photobucket for years Matt but I still can't load shots into my album. Odd that loading them into my posts isn't a problem though.

I usually don't mind the watermarks and, after seeing how some of our photos have been snagged by shady vendors to promote their products, I sort of like the watermarks on them. Sometimes I upload photos to one of my sites but then I need to make sure I re-size it correctly so it doesn't take up too much screen/bandwidth.

I again tried a test upload from my computer to my gallery, and it failed. Got a message that the server received a message it couldn't understand. This is the way I have always uploaded, and like Harv I like the watermark. So the problem still exists.

I can't seem to upload images at the moment. It goes to the retrieving images page then says the image has upload successfully, except it hasn't. :(

Don't know if this would be a cause, but when I saved a few photos on my computer, I wasn't paying attention to the type, and save them as ".png" format vice my usual ".jpg" format. I was able to upload them as ".png", but they would not display; if you clicked it you get a blank area where the photo would be. Once I changed it to a ".jpg" it displayed fine. Don't know if helps anyone. :2738:

I've tried uploading two pictures over the last couple of weeks, I get the message saying they've been downloaded but nothing appears. This is a problem that needs to be corrected. :jalapenonaner:

It's got nothing to do with photo formats or anything else. There's a problem and it's needs fixing.
However I'm starting to doubt whether it will be fixed because it's been nearly two moths since I've been able to load shots into my album. Loading pics in the threads though has never been a problem.
Hoping it won't be too much longer before this is corrected.

You are correct Hollyberry Lady, it is a site issue.
I can send very large photos through my server locally. The only problem I have is uploading to this site! :jalapenonaner:

I will hazard a guess that the problem some people are having uploading images is due to limitations imposed by their local network service provider.

I have no problem uploading large pics to me online photo sites such as flickr and photobucket.

How do you upload into the threads without uploading into the album first?
Thanks,

I believe the HBL means as an attachment, using the "paper clip" icon in the Reply to Thread editor. You will notice that this practice is frowned upon.
I would caution that "Hoping it won't be too much longer before this is corrected" is problematic since it seems to be affecting a random subset of users.

This has been an on-going problem and Jarred himself has told me that it is affecting more than just a select few members. Let's hope it gets fixed soon. :2738:
Olaf, the problem I'm having is when I try to load shots into my album directly from my computer. In the threads though, I post my shots through photobucket with no problems whatsoever. :D
The only person that has the answers and the solution to this problem is Jarred himself. Ho told me he's working on it, so I'm waiting. :)

Hi Sherry,
as I explained here: http://www.bananas.org/f5/cannot-upload-photos-14856.html#post183499 I solved the problem for myself at least temporarily, by just
employing a different browser. :)
Best,
Olaf

Its Firefox at fault,
I just uploaded to my album from Internet Explorer. Probably the problem is to do with the new versions of Firefox . See if you have a working previous version.
Jarrard here won't be able to fix Firefox, maybe the next version this will be fixed. Meanwhile upload with I.E or any other browser then chat or post with Firefox.

No, I don't think, that it is the fault of "Firefox", but the fault of my Firefox. It has worked fine for almost
a couple of years now and then I must have inadvertently messed around with it. Possibly removed a cooky
or something, which allowed the uploading. I do not think, that is a security thing, such as the firewall, because
that deals with 'incoming' stuff. I cannot see it interfere with the 'outgoing' from my computer. I am now
convinced, that Jarred can't do anything about that from his end, but let us know, what our problems are,
once we have figured that out.
I may try to reload Firefox and see how that goes.
Olafhenny

...at least for me. And it was not the fault of Firefox Internet Explorer or "Bananas."

As of this evening, I can now download my shots again...after over two months of not being able to!!! :goteam::D:goteam:
I've been dinking around and trying different things but nothing worked until I began reorganizing my photos and putting them into a new folder. Then I tried downloading a shot from the new folder and it worked!!! Yippeeeeee!

I had this problem some time ago, when I suddenly could no longer upload. Finally I downloaded
FireFox again and -BINGO!- it worked. ... For a bit, - then it stopped again. Downloaded FireFox
once more, - no help.
Since then I have switched to Internet Explorer and the uploading has gone flawlessly since.
I just resent the flood of advertizing I get on IE. Thus I have tried it for the last few pics. on
Google Chrome. That also worked very well, but so far I have not found their equivalent
of Bookmarks or Favorites for quick access. :(

There are issues with photos. I can't upload any because it says my allocation is full even when I deleted some, but other people don't seem to have any problems and have millions of photos. So issues.
