I went to my local nursery today and they had two plants labeled Mysore. They both had about 5 feet of p-stem and were really slender. When I went there last time, there was a plant labeled Mysore that had the red waxy coating under the leaves, but these ones didn't have that. Is it just because they are more mature now? Here are some pictures:

Petioles (they were closed):

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :D

Thanks. Can I get a second opinion? The only thing that makes me skeptical is the fact that there's no waxy coating on the undersides of the leaves.

It looks a lot like the mysores I have seen except that the undersides of the leaves are kinda pinkish bronze, but that could be a factor of age and weather.

That's what's making me skeptical. The funny thing is I went to the same nursery a few months ago and there was a plant labeled 'Mysore' that did have pinkish bronze undersides. But now there's two plants there labeled 'Mysore' and neither of them have it.

The color under the leaves fades fast. You pretty much only see it on new leaves before fully open

It's at a nursery that's 15 minutes away from my house. I'm not driving back there again today. And I didn't see any new leaves emerging.

If you want a true Mysore you'll get in your car right now and get back over there to check for new leaves emerging. :ha:

We have plenty of Mysore here in the South Pacific and your pics look just like the Mysore we have around here.
They are very reddish and pink when they are young, one of the prettiest pups I've ever seen.

Should I buy it then? My dad says that this nursery is so high-end and that they have so many knowledgeable people there that they would know if it wasn't it.

One thing I'd like to point out: One of the leaf midribs was almost entirely green on one of the plants.

You can always sell pups on Craigslist later on.

The one with a purplish midrib, yes, definitely Mysore. The other could be, but less certain.

That nursery obtains plants from standard wholesale suppliers and a few collectors. Do you recall anything about the tag on the plant, for example was it their own tag or a tag from a wholesale grower? A picture of the tag would be great.

I wasn't able to head down there today, but we gave them a call and they say that they got them from "Carla Nursery" down in San Diego. Are they reputable?

I couldn't find anything about them online, so I'm guessing it's a private collector.

I think you misheard them -- it is probably from Carlin Nursery.

Here's a picture of their Mysores that I found on their site.

A large number of independent nurseries buy plants from Carlin's.

What aren't you sure about? It is Mysore and it is from a reputable nursery. What is the question?

I have a couple of plants that ultimately came from Carlin, and they were correctly identified.

The only thing I was questioning was the fact that there was no red under the leaves. There wasn't even any wax. It could be just because the leaves are mature already. I guess I'll get it then. Thanks!
