Moved a pot with a banana plant in it and found this "bare root" coming out the bottom. Will it hurt too much if the root is removed ? We wanted to keep the plant in the pot until next spring. It and a dozen or so more are hopefully going to stay in containers until spring also.
Also, the container has some tree bark in it and when we moved the pot we found some termites, lots of termites in Florida, along with many other critters. Will they bother the plants?
Thanks

Removing the root will not hurt it.The termites don't eat bananas maybe the bark
Can I change my answer.

Thanks Tony, That is a very interesting article and may be of some good use to us as we like to use natural rather than synthetic. It is good practice to remove any woody pieces from around your house so termites won't want to hang around. They do a lot of damage in Florida and elsewhere.
