I bought this banana 2.5 years ago from someplace.Yep, I lost the tag. LOL, sorry I bought it on a whim. It has done very little til this season, in which it pupped like crazy. But it did rekindle my interest in collecting banana species again. Especially now that I have a greenhouse.
This plant looks too wimpy to be SDC. No hint of red color anywhere on the foliage.

I'm not sure this is a dwarf banana at all. When I look at the petiole channels it kind of resembles an ornamental type. Are those all the same banana type in the pot?

Yes, the banana has never grown more than 2-3 feet tall. The pseudostem has never been very thick.

It is not possible to ID what it is with any certainty. It needs to flower and then we could ID. The reason it is short is because it is in a container outside of the tropics, and we could only be sure it was some dwarf type if we knew how tall it gets when it flowers. Even an extremely tall banana will stay small in a pot. The reason it has so many suckers is because the main shoot died, and so all of the axillary buds began to grow and produce many suckers. They are so small and thin because they are all crammed together in one small pot.

I remember the tag said it was a dwarf. My dogs have a tendancy to pull the tag's out of the ground and pots. This is a very annoying habit.
I will divide the pups. This banana has always been small the 2.5 years that I have had it. I've planted it in the ground and then repotted it for winters in the greenhouse. You would think it is close to flowering maturity? Do I need to sacrafice a chicken over an altar?
