Picked first harvest of 1st time planting BJBB's.
Where's the ham hocks?
Anybody got a good recipe?

They look sorta like some "runner" beans I enjoyed last fall. Maybe look for that name in recipes. I think we just boiled in a pot of salty water. Quite good. Maybe an ounce or two of beef brisket slices from your favorite BBQ spot.

In a large pot gently simmer some smoked ham hocks and neck bones for about an hour skimming the surface occasionally.
Render about six slices of bacon that you cut up into one inch lengths.
Remove bacon and reserve
Add one large diced onion to the bacon drippings and saute till translucent
Add Salt, freshly ground Pepper and a pinch of red Pepper flakes
Add beans to pot and enough of the stock to cover the beans
Add the smoked ham hocks, neck bones and bacon to pot. Add more stock as necessary to keep beans covered
Taste and season as necessary while cooking.
Add more stock as necessary.
Simmer till tender.

BJBB ---- second harvest 18 days later. More than twice the yield.
Where are those ham hocks?!
