Tropical Garden Dreams
10-04-2011, 02:00 PM
I'm Erik, 43 and from Denmark. For as long as I can remember I have been dreaming about exotic tropical and sub-tropical plants in all shapes. Cacti, Palm Trees and Banana plants! But living in cold Denmark then I always thought that this was not possible. Today I know that it is possible and I have just started, what I think will be a long process, of turning my nice but Danish garden into a "tropical dream garden".

I have been seeding Musa sikkimensis, Musa sikkimensis 'red tiger', Ensete ventricosum and a few palms just 3 weeks ago, and two of them have already sprout.

Hope to find a lot of good advises and inspiration here.

/Erik

Welcome From Florida
I guess you will be the talk of your city once you get going on a tropical garden I know you will enjoy reading all the great info here and meeting some of the big brains of the banana world.. It's really nice to see people from colder parts of the planet enjoying what we take for granted here in South Florida USA.. So welcome aboard and I know you wil enjoy the time spent here :ha:

Welcome from New York! Its definitely possible to bring the tropics to Denmark! I cant wait to see all the things you decide to grow. A good way to make things look tropical is to group lots of broad leaved plants close together to give kind of an organized jungle look.
I hope you learn lots of new things on here and get lots of ideas for your yard!
