Here is (was) my Red Iholene. It was really damaged after one of the hurricanes that came through here last summer. The corm rotted with all the rain the storm dumped on us. I would like to get another one, I really like this plant!

I bought this one from E-Bay last summer. It was supposed to be Musa Iterans. It was broken at the soil line by one of the hurricanes and never resprouted. I don't think the corm was big enough.

Musa sikkimensis 'Red Tiger'. I ordered these seeds from RPS last summer. This plant is now about 4 feet tall and very neglected. It is still in the same pot and I always forget to water it. It doesn't look so good now. I guess I need to re-pot it or plant it in the ground before it dies.

Interesting. I have a sikkimensis Red Tiger that has no red color yet. I hope it ends up looking like yours in the picture.

Jeff, you plants look great! There is no difference between sikkimensis 'Red Tiger' and the "regular" one, it was based on nothing really why the did that and since it comes from seed that really insures it is no different.

If this one doesn't start showing red by next season it will be available for sale or trade.

Love your pictures! Very nice. I sprouted sikkemensis and sikkemensis "Red Tiger" just recently. I had heard they were the same too but am anxious to see for myself.

Thanks for the info Gabe! You answered the question that I was going to post next. I had a feeling they were the same plant. I ordered 10 seeds and 5 sprouted but 3 died as small seedlings when I went out of town and they got dried out. I've heard these are even more cold hardy than basjoo but have no experience with that as it does not get very cold here. Do you know if these sucker like other bananas?

M. sikkimensis suckers normally from my observations.
