Take some more photos from further back, the photos are too close up. We need to see the whole bunch and plant in addition to the close ups.

Well, Worm Farmer, did you harvest and eat these? Were they Manzano? They look like it to me from the pictures you posted.

BTW, those are really good pictures. I think it is the first full fruiting height banana picture that showed from the ground up that I have seen.
I am guessing the fruiting height was over 12 feet a little bit.

Frost killed them so its hard to say. This year is much more promising, one flower ed last month, and the other mat just flowered. So I might have some time to get full rip fruit from it.

Beautiful plants, they have the same coloration as my dwarf brazilian/ apple banana... I've read from a few sources that apple, and brazilian are one in the same.

Hi Mike,
Here's photo of my Manzano that flowered two years ago. This was a transplant that flowered with about four leaves on it. Fruit was really good, tasted like a banana with the hint of apple and pineapple.

They are not. True Apple/Manzano is a quite different plant than Brazilian, which is called Apple in Hawaii, hence the confusion. Both are great, but the fruit are easy to tell apart. For example, Brazilian has a thick peel (like that of a supermarket Cavendish), and Manzano has a very thin peel. The flavors are different, too.

It seems there is much confusion among cultivars.. there are two groups of people group 1 considers all banana plants bananas (or plants in general) and don't care about variety at all and group 2 is very specific about variety.. when I bought my dwarf brazilian at a nursery.. they called it dwarf brazilian.. then they also called it apple it tastes a a lot like the hawaiian "apple" banana i've tasted from stores (which thanks to your explaination I now understand is really brazilian). Very sweet with an acid undertone.. like an apple.. YUM
it is confusing though!

Hawaiian Apple can be Brazillian or Dwarf Brazillian.

this is dwarf brazilian fruiting.. it's different from manzano (from what I can see and assuming that the picture above is manzano) as it has coloration in the flowers at the ends of the bananas
