Morning all,
i have a 3 year old musa basjoo that earlier this year i took the step and removed him from a pot and planted in the ground. Since doing this he has done so well that i want to make sure i do the right thing over winter to keep hold off it.
I really havent got much of a clue apart from stuff i`ve read on the net.
I`m not sure what zone ( OR HOW TO FIND OUT ) i`m in, but i live on a small island on the south coast of the uk.
From what i can find out i think i need to protect the main stem/trunk.Could i use a drain pipe with air holes drilled in it say filled with straw or something?
I`m guessing i have to cut all his leaves off before doing so .
Also should i try to cover the bit thats under ground with something?
Sorry but i really am clueless on what to do.
Any help would be grate
Thanks for reading
sean

National Gardening Association (http://www.garden.org/zipzone/)
IF this link works it should help you find your zone. (Then again it might only work for the USA. Maybe you can just google- planting zone for the uk.) As far as overwintering go to the main banana forum and cruise threw the "cold hardy banana" forum, you might find some answers in there. GOOD LUCK!
