Please share your pseudostem pictures. I'm not sure if they are all different colors, sizes, and at different stages they look different I'm guessing. You can even include your flags.
I'll go first.

Sorry for the large picture.
I'm curious to see if they do differ as the plant matures or among different kinds of banana plants.

Lol, guess I just learned something..sorry about that.
What do you call the short stem like thing that eventually turns into a leaf?

Thanks!
Ok I have a real question.
I want to plant my basjoo at the corner of my house next season, how far from my house should I plant it? Is 4 ft ok?
Thanks

well, if a pstem is made of the old leaves, technically you are right if a little premature!

Thanks.
Looks like my plants are too small and need to grow more.

Here's a basjoo that was dead to the ground, and since it was buried 1 foot deep, it had no problem coming back twice as tall and much fuller. I have more details on my latest blog with banana updates. Psuedostem on the largest one here is around 5 inches while the other basjoo is breaking 6 inches with a few more weeks to grow.

Mitchel, what variety is that? I've been looking for a red that will do well in Las Vegas.

My mystery variety sold to me as Ice Cream has a really nice pink color on the P-stem. It's almost tripled in size since it was planted in late July!
