Hi all, I've been reading on here for a few months, the past few things I've read people are talking about banana mats. I've alway been unsure what this was, can some one explain what a banana mat is???
Thanks
Jen ( sorry I'm new to bananas and the south)

I'm still rather new to 'nanners, but I believe it refers to the mass of growing plants that are all interconnected to the original plant, or at least connected to each other.

Yeah! :D That's what you'll have in several years if you let your bananas grow out of control.

Ron, We surely would not trade locations with you. Brrrr. When one gets used to the temps in their area it is hard to believe that others enjoy where they live. Across the states the temps are quite a bit different. I have enjoyed hunting trips where it was -40F and not too enjoyable. Also enjoyed the temps in Key West which we loved. Thanks you for all of your input and stay warm.

This unmanged mat has three bunches. One obvious, one lower right and one buried in the middle. This was taken July 15th, 2010 at a restaurant in Pensacola, Fl. They should have had time to mature before we had a freeze.
