I am a new banana enthusiast, having purchased an extremely rootbound super dwarf a couple of weeks ago. I thought it needed to be kept pretty moist all of the time, so I added in some Soil Moist when I repotted it. It turned out to be a big mistake, as the soil was just completely damp and wouldn't dry out. I just repotted with fresh soil, and sure enough, there was some root rot. I only noticed a bit of limpness in the bottom few leaves, so is it possible I caught it in time? I tried to remove all of the soil moist and gently wiped the soil from around the roots. There does seem to be some healthy new root growth, but a few tap roots fell apart in my hands. Any experience with recovering from this type of issue? Gave him a dose of Sledgehammer and Big Bloom with a little liquid seaweed for good measure.
