Going to get down to 38deg tomorrow night here...too cold for my 10ft Eneste? It looks like a quick cold snap for one night.

Bring it in the garage? or should it be ok?

there may be slight damage, we are going down to 39 or 38 on Sat night. then going back to 50. no way i'm not digging mine up. gonna be nice the following week 70's and sunny. and even when cooler weather comes ill throw a tarp on over night mine should be fine till mid oct. when do you usually bring yours in or put them away?

Id bring it in the garage. If the forecast is off by a few degrees, your ensete will be melted and probably wont grow anymore for the year. I dont think its worth the risk, however, the good news is that temperatures in the 30s will not kill your plant, just damage it if it gets frosty.

kaczercat, This is my first year with a Eneste(potted). It's my favorite from how fast it grew to the color and majesty of it.

I'll watch the weather close. We live in the highest point in our neighborhood so don't have to worry about the colder temps in the depressions.

My plan is to let it sit in garage for a while at the end of the season, then cut it back some and bring it in the house.

I'll see if I have a light weight sheet to cover it first. Otherwise dig out the 2wheeler and dolly it into the garage for the night.

Eneste's can be bought cheap enough, may have to buy a small one in the spring and put it in the ground.

throw a couple sheets over it. Check the temp in the am when the sun starts to rise. If it's 32, then take off the sheet and hose it down with a good spray of water all over real quick.

Well weather people were wrong(for the good) only got down to 47..not 35 like they said. Had them all covered anyway, so survived fine. Have too many good days of warm weather left to bring them in this early!
