I'm recalling the thoughts running through my mind almost 10 years ago. I used to follow the stock market very closely and would spend mornings reading stories, blogs, etc., much of it coming from a NYC-based subscription site. One of the contributors was Bill "Bud" Mehan (sp?) whose company had just moved into the WTC a month or two earlier. I had chatted with him personally once or twice and felt he was a friend. He perished along with a thousand co-workers. The founded of the site, Todd Harrison, was updating the news as he heard it and the thoughts running through his mind up until the point he decided to evacuate (think he was a few blocks away). It was very eerie.

I never heard the story about Rick Rescorla until seeing a Yahoo story about it today. A family remembers: Hero of 9/11 gave life to save thousands - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/a-family-remembers--hero-of-9-11-gave-life-to-save-thousands.html)

Here is a History Channel video on it:

9/11 Attacks Video — History.com (http://www.history.com/topics/9-11-attacks/videos#the-man-who-predicted-911)

Wish his warnings had been listened to by more.

I was working for MSDW back in 2001. We all had video cards back then on our computers and were watching in horror as Tower 2 came down. When we found out a few days later that almost everyone got out we thought it was just a miracle. There is also a book that was written about Rick called "Heart of a Soldier" which has been turned into a play. There was talk about a movie, but I don't know what happened with that.
