At this stage the plant belongs in germination, but since all my plats are potted I am placing it here, the growth will be tracked in container grown from here out. First time seed grower, I do have another nursery bought that is quite old, see my intro for details on that Cavendish. A little over a month ago I purchased some Musa Laterita seeds online with the hopes of being able to propagate. After buying the seeds I started reading up on the task at hand, thought what am I getting myself into, talk about the chicken before the egg. Either way 29 days later I had 1 sprout out of 4 seeds,
just moved it from my starter tray to a small container, with hopes the others will come along.
So without further ado I present the worlds smallest potted musa,
Just kiddin : p

If you want more details about the germination method and my madness behind it I will be posting in germination.

Ten day's later, the 11mm sprout in first post is now approximately 6cm.
They do seem to grow rather quick once out of media, it is already pushing a second leaf. The specimen will be kept in a zip bag until three leaves are developed at which point I will start to gradually introduce the seedling to common environment.

The scale is a bad visual reference, it ls 6cm

Think I am done sowing for this season, days are getting shorter and nights colder, if any of the remaining seeds sprout, I guess it will be a plus. For now I am more than content with my results in attempting a species I knew nothing about.
Will continue to update progress of this periodically.

Oh yeah, thanks to everyone out there, if not for the information and positive attitudes out there, I don't think I would have come this far.
Kudos to all!

Patience, something I am learning. I too started my hand at germinating seeds. So far it has been very slow with most of the seed but have managed to get several to bust out into the open. Will post some pics soon. Good luck.

It's been a while since I have posted any progress of my first success from seed, so here are some updated photos of my Laterita at aproximately 4 months after sprout.
The plant will not see the outdoors until late May or even June, so I am treating it just like any other indoor off season plant, as I do my DC. Situated in front of a SSW facing window that I open the blinds daily, mist twice a day and provide about 16oz of water once a week.
