I have a planting area on the side of my deck...and a friend of mine, after seeing my basjoos in my front yard, suggested planting them there. I thought it was really a great idea...I'd be able to see them from the deck, from my living room window...it would be great! The back of my house faces south. What do you think? I'll include several pics that show the deck in general, and the area where I'd consider planting them next year. I have 2 of them, which, so far, have 5 pups. Seems there's more than enough space there, the soil there is good, and I thought it might even make it easier for me to winterize them too, they'd be near the south facing basement wall of my house, and the deck woud protect the mound from the west winds....they'd be easy to mulch/cover there, and the mounds wouldn't be in the way of anything....sometimes the plow plows snow into our yard, so I'm limited as to where I can plant the basjoos in front, I don't want them getting scraped over with the plow in the winter.

Just thought I'd run this idea past people who know more than I! I don't have a lot growing there currently....the few things I do have are easy to move. I have a maurelii there in the front corner...the basjoos would line the deck between where the maurelii is, and the house wall. Obviously I have not finished that bed yet...I was not sure what I was going to do with it.

Good idea, those rocks on the right hand side will trap and radiate heat all winter...giving more protection to your plants.
