I live in official zone 8b but, being in town, I am functionally in 9a. I want to transplant a few and spread some pups around. Should I do this now or in the spring? We will probably get our first freeze in December.

Also, does anyone have any experience in overwintering Thai Black in zone 9a? If it will be killed I'll pot it and bring it in. Ice cream, raja puri, namwah, saba, and orinoco have all come back strong after the last two colder than normal winters.

Many thanks, Woods

I have no idea for your neck of the woods down there, but here in zone 7a I plant in spring. It's too late for planting here and expect it to be able to overwinter. Good luck; someone from your area should chime in.

You should be fine. Probably 8-10 more weeks of decent growing weather minimum from here.

I trans-planted in late October one year and they all did fine.

I'm in a similar zone in CHS.
