Found this great forum while doing a search on forcing pups from my Ensete 'maurelii'. VERY pleased with all of the excellent information I've found (and I've barely scratched the surface of posts yet) and friendly tone of this forum! I purchased my baby maurelii this spring and I planted her outside in the ground by my patio to give it a tropical feel. She has grown by leaps and bounds. What a beauty she is! Hoping I can over winter her successfully. I also have a Musa Basjoo growing which is a descendant of one I purchased several years ago. It did fine and overwintered outside in my garden for several years until I moved and neglected it and let it get wet one winter. Luckily I had given a pup to a friend who returned it to me this spring so I could start again.
Looking forward to learning from all of you!
Would love to post a pic here but not sure how to get the two I have in the gallery to show in a post.

Should have read the thread on posting images from the gallery! Hopefully this works.

Welcome Melissa,
If you want to post your pic from the gallery, just click on the little pic and then when it displays the bigger pic. Right under the picture it says code for bulletin boards - just copy the code in the box to the right and paste it in your post. I'm kinda new too and that worked for me, if there is an easier way please let us know.
I have a couple Maurelli's too! I have them in pots and plan to bring them in this winter. Next year I will put in the ground. They have grown so fast, Double in size every two weeks.
Good luck!

Thanks Paul for the tip on how to post pictures.
I love the heft of the maureliis, and the color of course. They look so strong. I'm hoping that I can over winter mine in my basement after I dig it up. I saw where one person cut off all of the leaves and leaned the stem against the basement wall. My basement is warm though so not sure if it will go dormant down there.
