For some time ago I noticed that most of my bananas had small black spots on them. I don't think this is because of spider mites because in that case the leaves get more bronze/bright yellow stripes and you can actually see the mites crawling around. Here are some pics:

This SDC has most dots on its pseudostem.

This is an older leaf of a ensete ventricosum and as you can see it's almost turning black underneath but none of the others have this much under the leaf. All of the plants have spots on the surface, more or less.

What could this be?

I imagine GABE would be the one who could tell you best.

Some of the coloration, such as that on the pseudostem, looks normal. The spots on the leaves however look like some type of mild pathogen. Often, especially on young plants, the leaves are susceptible to bacteria and fungi which do not normally affect more mature plants, and most of the time cause very little damage.

As long as the plants are growing at a normal rate, there is really nothing to worry about.

Oh what a relief. Yes they are growing quite fast but it has been rather cool and very wet the past weeks which could be a reason if it's fungi. I'm glad that it isn't some new killer-disease. :)
