View Full Version : Fruit does not develop on dwarf orinoco
My Dwarf Orinoco flowers just fine but the bananas seem to rot where they meet the racime and drop off without developing.
Last year it flowered and the bananas never swelled, they just stayed very small.
Is it possible that something went wrong in tissue culture and I should just dig it out?
Thank you,
Ray

bump More fertilizer and water ?
It gets as much water (daily) and fertilizer (monthly) as my other bananas that are just a few feet away and they flower just fine.
The foliage is lush and vigorous and the plants put on a leaf a week.
Is it possible to have lush vigorous growth and still be under watering and fertilizing?
I'm near the bay in Northern California so it's quite temperate here.
Thank you,
Ray

Not if your watering daily.
I'll give it another year before I dig it out but I'm starting to think there may be something wrong with it.

Early Summer, it woke up, put on about 5 or 6 leaves and then flowered

All is not perfect in nature, Waiting may be the answer, so if it has a fault then you may have to replace it. Patience pays. Good luck.
