I have 3 ensete mauralii's, two of which are doing fine, but one looks really burned, with some areas of nearly transparent spots on the leaves. They all get full sun, are in huge pots with high quality soil, plenty of water and food as well. One of these, (not the ill one) is on her 3rd summer with me. She's over 13 ft tall, and is wonderfully healthy, dispite barely surviving the overwintering in my house. Anyway, HELP!!!!!

Are they really burning or is that what it looks like? I don't know how only one of mine would be 'burning' when the other two are in the same sun, same everything....

Good point, Mine come out and its mainly the tips that get brown and crunchy.
I do have a large upright elephant ear that got spots on them that were like rice paper...I assume it was the heat as well....do yours grow slow or quick?
mine was about a foot tall in the spring (April) and is only about three foot now.

Mine grow really fast. And my elephant ears, (I have 6) are huge, healthy and not at all 'burned'. All these are on my deck, in large planters, in good soil, with a drip irrigation system keeping them watered. The ensete maurelii I am having trouble with is visibly 'burning' up. I have tried the fool proof orchard spray that has always taken care of any disease and or insect problem I've ever had, on any and all my plants, ( I have 36 different plants, 62 total pots/planters out there) but to no avail....

It doesn't really look like spider mite damage. Also, the orchard spray would have taken care of that. I keep looking for some info on diseases of banana plants, and so far haven't found anything. I am really at a loss. And maybe soon to lose this plant....:0491:
It seems to me it is having trouble adapting. The first thing i would do is get it out of full sun. Another thing i would try is some -mycorrhizae, sea kelp or something of that nature to put on the roots, cause healthier the roots the better the plant. Also if u have some wilt pruf, spray the leaves to help save the ones u have and therefore help in recovery. I don't claim to know what's wrong with it, these are just things that might and might not help it recover, if u want to put the money and effort into it. If not i guess you can always buy a new one!! GOOD LUCK! (I also put mulch on my potted plants to help hold moisture).
