Does anyone have experience with mole crickets eating their banana roots, or any other problems caused by these *^#^@s ? The plants seem healthy, but I keep running across these things and I'm starting to think I may have an infestation. I would prefer to avoid poisons if at all possible. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

after some research, mole crickets don't eat plant roots. they just destroy them by digging for their favorite food source, earthworms. now i really have to kill these $%@*& things. a month ago my potted manzano was thriving, today it is almost dead. while watering today i noticed something moving on the surface. you guessed right a mole cricket. i flooded the pot and up came four more of those 8^%^#%#@ things! i have found a biopesticide ( parasitic nematodes ) , i just can't find a source yet!

Hey Kylie,

Thank's for the link, I have read alot about these things since my last post. It seems that they enjoy both grubs, worms, and insects or plant tissue depending on the type of mole cricket . Either way , they are pretty darn destructive! I found a source for benificial nematodes, and will be treating the garden soon. The good news is, once the nematodes colonize, they will continue to kill these pests until they are eliminated. All without poisoning myself, plants, or the neighbors.
