Greetings all,
Unfortunately I arrive at the forums solicitous for the health of my basjoos. I am presently growing them indoors with full morning sunlight and maintain them at about 23C or around 75F. I tend to water them every 4-5 days by taking them into the shower for a good hydration. I fertilise with Miracle-Gro every two months.
I recently found nefarious spider mites crawling on some of the leaves, and thus resorted to using some dish soap in combination with a paper towel to wipe down the leaves. This seems to be controlling but not eradicating them... I also was obliged to do this for a sugar cane plant that resides next to the bananas. Ever since I procured the plant on eBay, I have noticed the yellow/brown discolouration on the leaves that seems to affect older leaves first.
I would be supremely interested to know what ailment you think this is? My searches on the internet suggested to me some sort of mineral disorder in the soil, although the effects of the spider mite carnage could not be ignored...

P.S. Do you feel the suckers should be separated at this point?
