Hi y'all! I have enjoyed using this forum as good reference for growing my 'naners and finally decided to join and make my introduction. I have three Ice Creams in my front yard that I planted this year and if all goes well this year then I want to try some other varieties in the future. :08:

:woohoonaner: I'm native to West Ashley. I grew up on that side of the creek but moved this way when I bought a house. Did you plant your IC's in the ground or did you pot yours? Mine are planted but I would like to see about putting one in the pot that I can bring in for the winter.

Welcome Steve, we are in central Florida, Dunnellon area. We also have an Ice Cream but it is melting, not joking it just seems to fall apart when I touch it. Hope we can save it as we would like to find out how tasty they are.

Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcome. I'm glad to see I have some South Carolina peeps here.

Sherry, I love your gallery of chili peppers. I'm becoming a small fanatic of growing them.

Anywho..........I look forward to absorbing everyone's 'naner knowledge and sharing my experiences. :nanadrink:

I did plant it in the ground but it wasn't getting enough sun. So I pulled it and planted it in a half whiskey barrel I got from Lowe's (Jack Daniels is stamped on the bottom of the barrel) and put it on the deck next to the pool and now it's thriving! It looks great too. Check out my avatar!

My in-laws live in dunnellon. We cannot get their bananas to grow very well. Good luck with yours!

I know right? I should of at least taken a picture! I drilled drain holes in the bottom and the scent of whiskey came pourin out. My blue java has been leaning over ever since I planted it! :waving:

Thansk, I just got back into bananas and had to tune up the brain. Now have 14 plants and they are mostly doing good in pots. I have to gather up some larger pots which I decided to be the 15 gallon size so they won't be too large for me to move. If they get fruit than that's great but old age is creeping up and too large won't cut it. The ice cream did finally start to do some thing so it may survive. Believe that the praying hands didn't make it but will keep watching.
Have a good one.
