Hey everyone...I planted all of my bananas back in March and they're all growing great. The bad news is that I'm moving soon [again] and I'm concerned about my banana plants because they just now woke up from winter. Will they survive? I have a huge saba that's about 20 feet tall now and some smaller ice creams and gran nains.
What is the best method when i move them? should i remove all of the leaves? I was thinking i should.
thanks guys =D

if i were disturbing the roots . i would remove mostly all the leaves but the spear. i would probably not go as far as topping anything off . good luck on your moving situation.:bananas_b

In addition to the above,if its possible, keep the mat's corm intact and dont separate the pups unless you want to get rid of them. This will allow for more strength of both the mothers and pups and as a group, they will establish again faster.
I wish you have a successful and smooth move!!! :)

I would remove all the leaves, but mostly because it will definitely blow over if its tall and has few roots. Try to keep as much of the roots in tact as possible. Moving them might set them back a little, but its early in the season and they should grow as beautiful as usual during the summer

I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this since I've never actually moved them as soon as they got established.
thanks

We always say that create as little root disturbance as possible,
Thats for flowers, shrubs, and trees but works with Bananas I guess. Take as much soil with the rootball as possible.
Enjoy your new home ArchAngeL01.
