Several species from the Palm family (Arecaceae, aka Palmae (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/family.pl?95)) have culinary fruits. Some of them also have well-known cultivars. Let's see how many names we can compile here.

I'll start with the ones I have:
Butia capitata (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?8181): commonly known as Jelly Palm, Pindo Palm.
Jubaea chilensis (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?20718): commonly known as Chilean Wine Palm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jubaea).
Phoenix dactylifera (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?28046) 'Medjool': commonly known as Medjool Date Palm.
Phoenix dactylifera (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?28046) 'Zahidi': commonly known as Zahidi Date Palm.

Here are some others:
Bactris gasipaes (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?418541): commonly known as Peach Palm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peach_palm).
Cocos nucifera (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?11043): commonly known as Coconut Palm.
Elaeis guineensis (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?14936): commonly known as African Oil Palm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_palm).
Elaeis oleifera (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?70242): commonly known as American Oil Palm (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_palm).
Phoenix canariensis (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?28045): commonly known as Canary Island Date Palm.
Phoenix reclinata (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?28054): commonly known as Senegal Date Palm.
Serenoa repens (http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?103108): commonly known as Saw Palmetto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenoa_repens).

Betel Nut Palm (Areca catechu)

Thanks, but Betel Nut is not edible. The spongy nuts are chewed along with basil in something akin to chewing tobacco. When your jaw gets tired, you spit them out.
