i tasted the jelly a long time ago. i think the jelly maker added something besides pindo dates. i eat the fresh pindo dates all the time. to me they taste like simular to a mango.
i have tried queen palm dates.. it was like pindo palm in taste..i did it out of curiosity.
i have a couple 6 year old pindo plantings. would love fruit so i dont have to ask people. maybe i will get fruit at 8 years?? probably 10 at the most.

I have heard that Queen palms have a heavy fruit set. I wonder if anyone makes wine or jelly from them?

i think many people dont know they are even edible.. not many people have even tried a pindo fruit..probably out of fear..
i know many people who are really afraid of plants. they think every wild growing plant is poisonous.. lots of people dont know that dandelions are edible and are good for your liver. there are lots of plants growing in peoples yards that are considered to be weeds that can be eaten in a salad..probably not a good idea if you have dogs running around. :0
yeah i will say there are poisonous plants out there.. there are some plants growing in my yard that will potentially cause heart failure..some can either make a persons heart race or make it stop.. there is one that has a potentially deadly chemical that per ounce is more potent than cyanide.. since people are afraid of everything they dont see in a grocery store..have heard of few people nowadays who fall victim to any of these plants.. im still only hinting and wont name them.. (people are crazy and some information is dangerous)..
the point im trying to make is there are lots of native /non native plants that are extremely high in anti carcinogens ive been eating and or growing for years...im trying a few new plants as they become available. i think stores/restaurants are selling so much homogenized junk ..

yeah loquats are edible but avoid swallowing/breaking the seeds in your mouth ...they are not good for you.. i wouldnt give them to small children.
I wish my neighbors non-stop barking dog would come eat some of my cassava or my oleanders. Wait, I would rather my neighbor himself would come over and eat it instead.
yeah i will say there are poisonous plants out there..

Not sure of the age. I got it in a 20gal. container and it's been in the ground for
10 months or so.

Good to see that a little palm has fruits. I think it's all about the weather- in Rijeka, Croatia some examplar of Butia Capitata do not fruit until 10 years old because of cold winters and dry weather.

I love pindos! I've never had the jelly though. They grow here with minor winter protection. I'm waiting for mine to produce seeds. It will probably happen next year.

Very nice palm. I didn't think they would make it in Arkansas. I guess it shows how much these plants can really tolerate.
