hi nanerteers,

i have a couple of ice cream bananas that i transplanted many weeks ago. they have been in a state of folded leaves since then. the leaves are holding on and still have some green. however, they just remain folded. also, and most importantly, they have not pushed out any new leaves in weeks. i am not sure what to do. they are solid in the soil which drains very well and is moist.

please advise. thanks!

It can easily take a month for new growth

I don't know how much interruption they suffered, when you transplanted them, but the ones
I brought home from Vietnam and replanted after 4 days took quite some time to respond. The mother
needed 34 days and the pup more than 6 weeks. And especially the pup looked dead, before it suddenly
picked up a few days ago. For details of the story see: http://www.bananas.org/f2/i-think-i-scored-coup-13386.html#post161151

Good luck,
Olaf

If you can, post some pictures. We might be able to eliminate some issues with it.

More than likely your naner is focusing its growth on its roots system. Normally it will pick up growth soon.

Give it a week in the warm sun and I'll bet its as good as new.

thanks! i am actually going to move it in place to get more direct sunlight. it gets morning sun and then filtered sunlight through the shade cloth.

here's a pic facing south. the ice cream bananas are marked with the red donut near the center of the pic. i will move it more to the left for more sunlight.
